Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alvaro Seixas has a Phd in Visual Arts by the University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He teaches at the University Veiga de Almeida, in Rio de Janeiro, since 2009. In 2005 he had his first solo exhibition at SESC Niteroi. He was awarded in 2008 with Premio SIM in Belém, Pará, where he took part of the exhibition Janelas para o Mundo at Espaço Cultural Casa das Onze Janelas. In 2009 he won Instituto Itau Cultural’s award Trilhas do Desejo. Recently he took part in the exhibitions Alvaro Seixas and Rafael Alonso: Painting Dialogue, at Ateliê Subterrânea, in Rio Grande do Sul, 2010, Pintura Reprojetada, at Espaço Marcantonio Vilaça, in Brasília and Pintura Ampliada at Centro Cultural Banco do Nordeste, in Fortaleza. In 2012, together with the artists Rafael Alonso and Hugo Houayek, he was awarded with Projéteis Funarte de Arte Contemporânea – Rio de Janeiro, where he exhibited his work at Mezanino da Funarte do Palácio Gustavo Capanema.
